Short Walks on Exmoor

A collection of 15 short walks exploring southern Exmoor. Each walk comes with easy-to-read 1:25K Ordnance Survey maps, clear route description and lots of images, plus information on places of interest and refreshment stops.

Exmoor, a national park since 1954, straddles the border between Somerset and Devon in south-west England. Once a royal hunting  forest, Exmoor offers a varied landscape of moorland, ancient woodland, tree-shaded river valleys and coastal cliffs where the land drops steeply into the Bristol Channel.

Shaped by humans over thousands of years, Exmoor is a working, agricultural landscape of open heathland and small fields. Hidden amongst the rolling hills and valleys are small towns and villages offering cosy pubs and historic buildings. But there is also a diverse wildlife, from Exmoor ponies to the largest number of wild red deer in England.
