Amsterdam along with Smithfield tractor show (not shown) were the first
stands I designed at Imagination. The task was simplified for
me by having to use the 'base of a kit' system created by imagination
for ford. It allowed me to face the learning curve of exhibition design
in the real world without getting bogged down in detail.
I used the term 'base of a kit' system as there was still serious design
to do! A colleague, James Dibble and myself had to design a means of
supporting an existing truss system as there were several large shows
going out and not enough truss to do them all! We created a set of drainpipe
sleeved metal uprights which mounted into an MDF stabilizing base (2).
Then we had to create a large set of walls to carry graphics and divide
the stand up (1). Finally there were all the technical
exhibits(2) and incidental designs to do on such a show
as this. Good experience!
